Acts and Epistles in Apocryphal Writings

چکیده
The large amount of pseudepigraphical literature which circulated during the early period of the history of the church serves one useful function. It provides a most effective contrast with the canonical New Testament books, which cannot fail to stamp the latter as productions of a different kind. It has always been recognized that imitation is a form of flattery which often leads to a greater appreciation of the real thing. It is with this end in view that the present study will look at some of the apocryphal Acts and Epistles. A study of the structure and methods of compilation of apocryphal books will throw light on certain problems which arise out of the canonical models.
